Congresswoman Jackie Speier introduced the Military Judicial Reform Act

Today Congresswoman Jackie Speier introduced the Military Judicial Reform Act to strip military commanders of their power to overturn legal decisions or lessen sentences handed down by judges and juries at courts martial. It’s inspired by the recent case of a lieutenant general at Aviano Air Base overturning the sexual-assault conviction of an officer who had been sentenced by a jury of his peers to a year in prison and dismissal from the service.

Very little has changed in 45 years since I served in the AF as the “first female” to brief combat pilots in Vietnam. I was isolated by everyone at the 388th Tac. Ftr. Wing, KRTAFB. The disrespect and sexual harassment was rampant then as it is now. My life and relationships changed drastically from my experiences, but I am finally at age 68 a very strong female and very outspoken to men in general. I have survived breast cancer and will sonn have my second hip replacement surgery. It is amazing what a person can do when they are given lemons!
